Enugu Rangers will retain their victorious coach, Imama Amapakabo, and the players for next season.
Amapakabo helped the team win the Premier League for the first time in 32 years after guiding them to a 4-0 victory over El-Kanemi at home on Sunday .
General Manager of the club Paul Chibuzo told reporters in Enugu on Wednesday that Amapakabo had distinguished himself from other coaches in the league and must be retained.
He said, “Honestly, Amapakabo was handed a season contract with an option of renewal and now we have found him worthy and must retain him.
“Now we have finished the league as the champions. Nigerians are looking forward to seeing us do well in the CAF Champions League and we are hoping to prove it to them.
“It gives me joy that Amapakabo justified the trust we put on him by entrusting a club like Rangers into his hand and we want him to continue because he still has a lot to do.
“We still have continental trophy and more league trophies to fight for, so to avoid distraction and stories, the coach and the players are staying back.”
