22 year old Nigerian midfielder Vincent Onovo has joined Hungarian side Ujpest ?on a free contract following the expiration of his contract with Finnish side HJK Helsinki.

He was signed on by the Hungarian side after impressing them in a test game last week arranged by the club to test his abilities, before his signing was made official by the club on their website.

Onovo is the second Nigerian player at the club with ex Enugu Rangers and former Nigeria U20 midfielder Obinna Nwobodo the other Nigerian on the books of the Hungarian side.

Last season Onovo was ever present for HJK Helsinki, the team he joined from modest side Inter-Turku. He is leaving Finland after three years with a total of over 97 matches to his name.

Ujpest will be hoping he helped them regain their top spot in Hungary after their mid table finish the past two seasons. Onovo is already keen on helping them achieve that.

” I feel very good because ?everyone is very friendly and helpful to me, all my teammates as well. My goal is to lead the club to great success, for example, to end the season in a position where we can qualify for European games”, he told the official website of the club.
