Official: AFCON 2023 scheduled for January next year

The Confederation African Football (CAF) have revealed the Kickoff date for 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeriasoccernet.com  reports

With Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Senegal and hosts Cote d’Ivoire have already qualified for the biennial competition, fourteen more teams will still have to fight for s place in the draws.

Thus include the Super Eagles Nigeria who now need a draw in the qualifiers to secure a spot at the tournament.

CAF now have announced that the opening match will take place at the newly built Alassane Quatara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The final draw of the 2023 AFCON will be held in September 2023 although the date and venue will be confirmed by CAF in due course.

The ground will host the final on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
