NWFL Super Six: Bayelsa Queens beat Confluence Queens to go top

Bayelsa Queens recorded a second consecutive victory in the Nigeria Women Football League Super Six following their 2-0 win over Confluence Queens in the second match of matchday 3, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The hosts earned the win courtesy of first half and second half goals from Zainab Olopade and Chinyere Igboamalu at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

In an encounter dominated by the Prosperity Girls, the opener came on 22 minutes of action after Olopade struck a beauty to give her side the lead.

It could have been two before half time after Mercy Omokwo breezed pass her mark to beat goalkeeper but her effort came off the crossbar.

The second half saw the tempo of the first half maintained with the Queens from Bayelsa creating more chances to score.

The second goal of the action finally came with two minutes to the end of the encounter courtesy of substitute Igboamalu's sublime finish.

With the win, Bayelsa Queens go top of the log with 7 points after 3 matches, leapfrogging Rivers Angels who were previously on the same point as the host following their goalless draw against Nasarawa Amazons.
