NWFL: Naija Ratels displace Rivers Angels in top 3 after win over Heartland Queens

Naija Ratels got a vital win against Heartland Queens in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women's Football League, NWFL Premiership on Thursday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Abuja based side got an emphatic 2-0 win over the Owerri based side to go third on the league group A log ahead of 2021 champions, Rivers Angels on goals difference.

Goals from Amin Folorunsho and Oyinlola Olamide in the first and second half silenced the Heartland Queens side that also sought the third spot on the log prior to this game.

Thirty minutes into the encounter, the Ratels were up to the surprise of the spectators as Folorunsho scored to give the visitors the lead.

The held on to that lead as the reached the closing stages of the first half.

In the second half, Bankole Olowookere's Girls doubled the lead courtesy of Olamide who scored in the 55th minute.

Expectedly, the host pushed for a comeback, the visiting team were resolute in defense to deny any form of goal or come back.

However, it could have been three goals for the Visitors, but their goal was ruled out for offside in the 84th minute.

They would remain unshakable till the end to get two over their opponents after beating them 3-1 in Abuja in their first meeting this season.

They go third with 10 points same as Rivers Angels but with better goals difference.
