NPFL Review: Aliko Credits Youth For Their Win Against Heartland

Published on: 11 May 2016

Niger Tornadoes captain and goalkeeper Mustapha Aliko has said youthfulness greatly helped his side to beat their foes Heartland.

The newcomers won 2-1 against the Naze Millionaires in Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match-day 16 clash at their adopted home, Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

Tornadoes' top striker, Ismaila Gata, scored a brace for his side while Ifeanyi Onuigbo scored the consolation.

Aliko said the encounter lived up to its pre-match billing as both sides came to the party.

“Youthfulness gave us the victory against experienced and matured opponents.

“Heartland brought their experience to bear in the hotly contested match, but the athleticism and zeal of the youth proved decisive.

“I think we proved to be the better side at the end of the encounter and deserved to win.

“The victory will help us greatly as we continue our search for away win at newcomers MFM FC at the weekend in Lagos,” said the Niger Tornadoes shot stopper to supersport.com.

The win against the Owerri outfit takes the Minna side's total earnings to 20 from a possible 48 in the 16-week-old top flight.
