NPFL: Ibrahim Mustapha's Goal Help El-Kanemi Edge Ikorodu United, Boost Survival Hopes

El-Kanemi Warriors boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 win against fellow strugglers Ikorodu United in a match day 13 Nigeria Professional Football League fixture in Maiduguri on Saturday. Ibrahim Mustapha scored his seventh goal of the campaign, converting from the spot in the 24th minute to give the hosts the lead. He is now top of the scorers chart with Niger Tornadoes forward, Ismaila Gata. Mustapha missed another chance to increase his side’s lead after missing from the spot in the 36th minute. Both sides failed to fashion out clear-cut opportunities in the second half with the home side contend with protecting their lead. Ebeye however wasted a glorious chance to get Ikorodu United back in the game when he wasted a glorious chance four minutes from time. El-Kanemi with the win moved from 18th position to 11th in the NPFL table. Ikorodu United who are now without a win in their last 10 games are last on the log.
