Liverpool and West Ham in Race to Sign Marc Bartra From Barcelona

"?Liverpool have been given the all-clear to sign Spanish international defender Marc Bartra from Barcelona this summer, according to "?Sport.

Luis Enrique, Barcelona's manager, is reportedly eyeing a move for Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi, and is prepared to let the 25-year-old move on in order to make room for the German.

Batra was a peripheral figure at the Nou Camp during the season, making just a smattering of appearances - 17 to be exact - with just six of those being starts. Jurgen Klopp has since expressed interest, and reports claim that the Reds boss has already made moves to bring the player to Anfield.

He will, however, face competition for the signature, as West Ham are also said to be in the hunt. Bartra's release clause has been lowered to just £9m, making him very affordable, and there's also the possibility of him being used in a swap deal for Mustafi.

If Klopp can oversee a Liverpool victory over Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday, then the Reds will be able to add Champions League football as an incentive to the player.

It will be a very interesting summer for Klopp, as he looks to reshape his already potent squad. The German is desperate to challenge for top honours next season, and Batra is seen as one of the best defensive improvements he could make.
