Lionel Messi Admitted to Not Reading Any of His Contracts When in Court

"?Lionel Messi's tax evasion case will continue this Tuesday, with the Barcelona star and his father accused of defrauding the government of around €4.1m between 2007 and 2009.

Barcelona daily El Periodico has now published some quotes from Messi's testimony on the case from 2013, in which he claimed that he doesn't even look at the contracts he signs - trusting his father to advise him properly.

The Argentine superstar said: "The truth is I never looked at the issue of money. It's something that my father handles. And I trust him. I dedicate myself to playing football. And it's what I do. Anything regarding contracts..."

The judge then interrupted, asking: "But you are the final recipient of income or do you share it among you?"

"Yes, it's mine. But at the end of the year I see the summary of what I have, what I have done in the year. But I do not ask where the money goes. I know the club pays me and nothing else, nothing else," Messi continued. "I only know what comes at the end of the year. What I have, I did not know where the money is, where it goes."

Another revealing quote came when the judge showed Messi a contract for a transfer of image rights, asking whether Messi was 'aware' of the contract. He replied: "The truth is that I have no idea. As much as I look, I do not know. I signed things, but never looked at contracts. I do not know what I signed."
