Idrissa Gueye claimed that his spectacular score against Brest on Friday, which allowed Paris Saint-Germain retain their perfect start to the Ligue 1 Uber Eats season, was the result of hard effort on the training ground, saying: "I didn't think and I shot."

After Ander Herrera and Mbappe scored to give PSG a comfortable lead, Franck Honorat equalized for Brest, keeping the Breton hosts within a goal at the break. Gueye, on the other hand, restored the visitors' two-goal advantage in spectacular manner, blasting a 30-yard shot past Marco Bizot with 17 minutes remaining to celebrate his first appearance of the 2021/22 campaign in royal style.

"It was an almost perfect evening. I am happy to have made my return after a period with Covid-19 where I stayed at home without training. It was important to be back out on the pitch today, with my friends and to win this match," said Gueye after netting his first league goal since last December.

"These are strikes that I often work on in individually in training. It comes automatically in a match when you are used to doing it in training. It's what I did here, it came instantaneously. I didn't think and I shot. Today, I was lucky to score."
