Ghana U20 goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has captured the first-choice spot at Austrian second-tier side FC Liefering as he impressed in their emphatic 4-1 win over Hartberg on Friday.

The 18-year-old was handed his chance on Friday evening by Liefering head coach Peter Zeidler and grabbed it.

Ati-Zigi, who has been included in the preliminary Ghana U20 squad for the FIFA U20 World Cup, excelled outstandingly as Liefering tightened their grip at the top of the league table.

While the keeper was excelling in goal, midfielder David Atanga was playing an architectural role in the game as he assisted two goals in the game.

Atanga together with Ati-Zigi are on loan from Austria giants Red Bull Salzburg and are both in the Ghana U20 squad for the New Zealand World Cup.

Ati-Zigi must compete for a place in the Ghana squad with experienced Michael Sai and Hearts of Oak's Seidu Mutawakil who both had bad tournaments at the African Youth Championship in Senegal.
