“It’s not a disaster yet.” Rufai calls for patients

Ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai believes the senior national team can still turn things around despite their shaky start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports

Nigeria’s Super Eagles left their supporters frustrated following the team’s couple of 1-1 draw against Lesotho at home and Zimbabwe away from home.

The results has not only placed Nigeria third on the table in Group C, it has as well casted doubt on the qualification of the 3-time Africa champions, with head coach, Jose Peseiro under fire.

Rufai however, calls for patients while h expect to work their way back to the top.

“They can surprise us. Football is a crazy sport. I believe they can still turn things around and make Nigerians happy,” the 60-year-old, who played at the 1994 and 1998 World Cup finals, told BBC Sport Africa.

“It’s not a disaster yet.

“I expect the team to turn it around and qualify for the World Cup.”
