Zinedine Zidane Voted for Dortmund Starlet in French Player of the Year Awards

"?Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane casted a vote for Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele at the French Player of the Year Awards.

Dembele emerged as one of the brightest prospects in European football during his first season with Rennes, scoring 12 Ligue 1 goals in 26 games before securing a move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Since his move to Thomas Tuchel's side, the 19-year-old has impressed with his dribbling and athletic ability, scoring four goals and contributing seven assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances.

According to "?Marca, Real manager Zidane was so impressed by Dembele's breakthrough year that he voted for the teenager as one of France's best players over the past 12 months. The legendary midfielder unsurprisingly opted for two current Los Blancos stars, with Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane appearing at the top of Zidane's ballot.

Despite his incredible form over the past two seasons, Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann only manages third place, while Dembele comes in at fourth place, ahead of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Zidane is obviously impressed by what he's seen of Dembele during the early stages of his career, but any potential move for the teenager was complicated by Dembele's decision to join Dortmund in the summer. The winger opted for the Bundesliga after deciding Dortmund's project was more impressive than the likes of PSG or Barcelona.

Reports claim Dembele is eager to play for the La Liga giants at some stage in his career, but that he will not be leaving Dortmund anytime soon.
