The chance of acquiring a British passport is likely to convince Kelechi Iheanacho to stay in English football.
The Nigerian striker has reportedly been told that he is surplus to requirements at Manchester City and has been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, because the Super Eagles man is close to securing British citizenship, he is hoping to remain in the Premier League, possibly opening the door for West Ham United to sign the player.
“He has been in England for the last three years and is two years away from getting his UK citizenship," a source told ESPN.
"There is no point in moving outside England right now."
The 20-year-old is currently engaged with Nigeria’s preparations for their upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
