West Ham are said to be weighing up their options, and may drop their pursuit in Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette in order to keep Dimitri Payet as their main man, as reported by the "?Daily Mail.
The Hammers have made an offer of £32m, but Lyon are holding out for a bid from Paris Saint-Germain, and want £40m for their star player.
West Ham are now cautious, with Payet having put on a show for France at Euro 2016, registering two great goals in the tournament. West Ham fear that his exploits will garner even more attention, and want to focus on keeping him at club, ahead of anything else.
If Payet gets sold, the Hammers would make more than three times as much as the £10.7m they paid to Marseille last summer.
Agent Mark McKay, who helped facilitate the deal for West Ham, says that the club made a great decision when they signed the 29-year-old, and he isn't sure that they need a bigger name in their team at the moment.
"You have to say that the signing of Dimitri Payet was terrific business by David Sullivan," he said.
"West Ham have made him feel like a King and he has revelled in the responsibility.

"They recognised the talent he had at Marseille and the club and supporters have shown him the love he craved.
"You wonder if they need a bigger name going into the Olympic Stadium. He's emerging as the star of Euro 2016 and West Ham have got the player all of Europe wants.
"The signing of Sofiane Feghouli from Valencia is another astute piece of business so you know the club is doing things the right way. If they can keep Payet why would they need another big name?"
