West Ham Boss Slaven Bilic Admits Frustration at Lack of Signings But Will Scout Targets at Euros

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has admitted his frustration over the Hammers' inability to sign players before the start of Euro 2016, but is adamant that the tournament will help with their attempts to sign their targets, Club Call reports.

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan had revealed last month that they had five bids in place for five unnamed players, but any potential deals have failed to materialise so far.

A number of players around Europe have been strongly linked with a move the Olympic Stadium next season, namely Olympique Lyonnais hit-man Alexandr Lacazette, Marseille striker Michy Batshuyai and Liverpool's misfiring forward Christian Benteke.

Save for a free transfer, taking former Arsenal graduate Havard Nordtveit from Borussia Monchengladbach, the Hammers have failed to make a real statement in the transfer market.

Manager Slaven Bilic admits it was difficult to sign anyone during the small period between the end of the Premier League season and the start of Euro 2016 but is adamant that he will sign his targets.

It is common knowledge a player's price could go up with a good performance at a major tournament, but the former Croatia manager has revealed they have been "monitoring" the players since before the start of the tournament in France.

Bilic, speaking on ITV Sport, said: "We've been monitoring the players throughout the season, especially at the end of the season, so now some of those players will play [in France].

"We aren't going to judge the players just based on their performances at the European Championships, but it will definitely help.

"It will help us to make our decision and there are definitely a few of them that we will have a detailed look at during the Euros.

"We tried to do some business before the Euros, but it was impossible; it didn't happen."
