"?West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis insists further recruits are desperately needed before the transfer window slams shut on 31st August, Sky Sports reports.
The former Stoke City boss revealed his plans after a disappointing 0-0 draw against newly-promoted Middlesbrough. The final whistle was met with a chorus of boos from the Hawthorns faithful after watching an uninspired display from their side.
The Baggies have made just one permanent signing this summer and their performances this season, which included an EFL Cup elimination at the hands of League Two side Northampton, has been concerning despite being in 10th position in the table.
With just days left of the transfer window, Pulis is insistent that his squad will have significant changes before the deadline.
"We are trying our hardest as a football club to get that something we need in," Pulis said. "Hopefully it [transfer business] will be done in the next couple of days.
"I like to do my business without anyone knowing, speaking to the other managers at other clubs, and then once it is done we can all talk about it.
"We need five players to come in for the group. There are players here who want to move on too."
He added: "As you have seen today, we need that bit of quality and mobility. We have 14 players that were here when we came in two years ago when we were favourites to go down. We've improved but we need five new players."
