"?Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney wants to end his career at Old Trafford, and is hoping to extend his contract even further than the three years he has left.
The 30-year-old has dropped back into the midfield, having played as a striker for most of his career. He sees Ryan Giggs as a role model, as the former United player stretched his career by moving to a midfield role as age gradually became a factor.
"I have a contract at the club that I want to see out and wouldn't be against extending it but that's up to the club." Rooney said to the new edition of the United We Stand fanzine, quoted by "?The Sun.
"All players' games develop and change over time. Look at Giggsy towards the end of his career compared to the beginning. What I can say is I will continue to develop my game and adapt and improve throughout.
"Over time and with experience, you see the game and experience the game differently, which leads to different decisions.
Wayne Rooney is ready to sign a new contract so he can finish his career as a Manchester United player.
"I think my record shows I have always enjoyed assisting goals as much as scoring them and I also enjoy the involvement from deeper positions."
Rooney is currently on international duty with England at the Euro 2016 tournament in France, hoping to return to his nation with a trophy. He is England's all-time record scorer, with 52 goals to his name.
New United manager Jose Mourinho, who will finally get to work with Rooney, having long admired him, recently said of the player: "Wayne is and has been England's best player for over a decade,"
