"?England captain Wayne Rooney has sung the praises of manager Roy Hodgson following their 2-1 victory over rivals Wales.
The Three Lions trailed 1-0 at half time courtesy of a Gareth Bale free kick, however the introductions of Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy in the second half saw England eventually win the game in injury time, with the two goals coming from the aforementioned substitutes.
In "?an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, Rooney spoke about Hodgson and the decisions he made at the break.
"Great credit to the manager," said Rooney. "He saw the way the game was going and made changes at half-time. It isn't always easy to change players at half-time but he's done that and it paid off for us. He deserves full credit."
The changes differed greatly from the Russia game, where fans and media alike slated Hodgson for being too negative once his side had taken the lead.
However in the Wales game, Rooney stated that he felt the winner was always coming.
"I've played a lot of games, a lot of football matches and you have that feeling. You know something will happen. We kept probing and kept knocking on the door and thankfully Daniel got a goal for us in the end.
'We dominated really from start to finish. We'd conceded against the run of play, which was disappointing, but we showed great character and belief in ourselves and trust in our team-mates.'
Rooney and company will now be looking ahead to Monday's crucial game against Slovakia in Saint-Etienne, where a victory would see them win the group.
