Watford have lined up Walter Mazzarri to replace outgoing boss Quique Sanchez Flores.
The club released a statement on Friday morning which confirmed that they will be severing ties with Flores despite his incredible achievements this season in steering the club away from the relegation zone and getting them into an FA Cup semi-final.
12 - Quique Flores has won 12 Premier League games as manager - twice as many as any other Watford manager in the competition. Adios.
Mazzarri is now in pole position to take over the Vicarage Road managerial reins and"? "?Goal "?are reporting that he will put pen to paper on a three year deal.
The 54-year-old has previously coached Italian giants Inter Milan and Napoli and he will have a massive task on his hands propelling the plucky Hornets up the Premier League table.
However, Mazarri has been out of work since he was sacked by Inter Milan back in November 2014. The Italian guided the Nerazzurri into a fifth-placed finish in Serie A in his debut season with the club before a dismal start to the second campaign saw him replaced by former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.
During his spell with Napoli, Mazzarri tasted success in the 2012 Coppa Italia and he narrowly lost out on the league title to Juventus in 2013.
Meanwhile, Flores will be on the lookout for a new challenge and he has already publicly stated a desire to stay in England.
