Ghana’s Black Princesses are set to face eternal rivals Nigeria’s Falconets in their next fixture at the 2025 WAFU B U20 Women’s Championship, following a convincing 2-0 victory over hosts Benin Republic in their opening match on Friday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The win puts Ghana in a strong early position and sets up a much-anticipated clash against the defending champions, Nigeria, who remain unbeaten in their last 10 matches at this level.

The upcoming tie between Ghana and Nigeria promises to reignite one of West Africa’s fiercest football rivalries, as both nations chase regional supremacy and a qualification ticket to the 2026 U20 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana’s head coach, Yusif Basigi, commended his players’ performance against Benin but emphasized the need for full concentration ahead of the Falconets challenge.

“We did well to get the win against Benin, but Nigeria will be a different test. We must stay focused and improve in key areas,” Basigi said after the match.

Nigeria, led by coach Moses Aduku, heads into the encounter as defending champions and tournament favorites, having maintained an impressive record at the youth level across Africa.

The high-profile clash is scheduled to take place today, Saturday, November 8, 2025, with the winner expected to take control of the group standings and move closer to the semifinal stage.

This year’s WAFU B U20 Women’s Championship runs from November 7 to 12 and features only three participating nations, Nigeria, Ghana, and Benin Republic, following the late withdrawal of Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.

The competition will be decided through a round-robin format, where each team faces the others twice. The side with the most points at the end of the fixtures will be crowned champions of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Women’s Championship.
