Jeonju: Vietnam ended their FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Honduras in Group E.

  • Both Vietnam and Honduras eliminated from Korea Republic 2017
  • Vietnam playing in first ever U-20 World Cup
  • Vietnam finish fourth in the group
  • Substitute Sendel Cruz and Jorge Alvarez scored what were Honduras' first goals of the tournament in Korea Republic. Cruz scored in the 76th minute with a close-range finish while Alvarez netted in stoppage time, firing a low shot past Vietnam goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung.

The Vietnamese, boosted by a great showing of support at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, had the better of possession and opportunities in the first half, but failed to convert their chances. In the 85th minute Vietnam nearly bagged an equaliser, but Nguyen Quang Hai saw his effort rattle the post before Alvarez put the result beyond any doubt.
