Gent defender William Troost-Ekong is not bothered about playing alongside a new partner in defence for the Super Eagles in Saturday’s 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
Troost-Ekong has been a regular starter for the Super Eagles under Gernot Rohr, playing with three different central defenders in their last eight games, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem and Leon Balogun.
Mainz defender Balogun is however ruled out due to injury.
“I’m not disturbed playing with a new partner on Saturday. It’s not easy changing partners in every game due to different reasons,” Troost-Ekong said during during a pre-match media conference at the Ibom Le Meridien here in Uyo on Thursday.
“I try to organise the backline each time alongside Elderson Echiejile and other guys. Most of the time it’s easy with their help. We just hope to have a great game.”
