Tottenham Turn Their Attentions Away from Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi

"?Tottenham Hotspur are set to abandon their chase of Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi, with the Belgian international demanding a weekly wage in excess of £100k, according to a report by "?ClubCall.

The striker, who is currently preparing for the European Championships in France, had looked set to join the North London club and provide competition to the heavily-relied goal scoring exploits of Harry Kane, but the Spurs hierarchy are reportedly unwilling to sanction a move that will break their wage structure at the club and possibly affect team morale.

Ligue 1 side Marseille, however, are expected to sanction the sale of the 22-year-old, who netted 17 times in 37 league appearances last season, in order to mitigate their debts.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to add to his squad after the club qualified for the much-coveted Champions League with a third place finish in the Premier League, although a move for the Belgian seems unlikely.

Pochettino is eager to lessen the goal scoring burden on Englishman Harry Kane after he netted 28 goals in 50 appearances for Spurs. The Argentine currently has Clinton N'Jie and Son Heung-min as backup for Kane.

Tottenham are, however, believed to be on the verge of signing of AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen. Reports suggest that the Lilywhites are close to bringing the 21-year-old Dutchman to White Hart Lane for a fee thought to be in the region of £12m.

Janssen amassed a remarkable 32 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions throughout 2015/16 - including 27 in 32 Dutch Eredivisie matches as Alkmaar finished fourth in last season's league standings.
