Tottenham Remain Confident About Capturing Southampton Powerhouse Victor Wanyama

Published on: 11 June 2016

Tottenham Hotspur are growing increasingly confident that they will secure Victor Wanyama's signature, "?Mirror Sport report.

Spurs clinched third-place in the Premier League which means they can look forward to battling it out in the Champions League next season.

Mauricio Pochettino's men fell agonisingly short of the final hurdle in the title race and Wanyama has been identified as the man who can shore up their midfield.

The Kenyan powerhouse joined Southampton from Celtic in a £12.5m deal three years ago and he quickly became a revelation down on the South Coast.

His tough-tackling, no-nonsense displays have earned him a formidable reputation, but the time has come for a new challenge.

With Ronald Koeman set to officially join Everton in the coming days, the Saints are bracing themselves for a mass exodus of star players and Wanyama is set to be the first out the door.

The 24-year-old, who made 30 top-flight appearances last year, only has 12 months remaining on his contract and he is reportedly keen on a reunion with his former boss in North London.

Tottenham are now primed to test Southampton's resolve with an £11m bid as they seek to improve their squad ahead of a renewed assault on the Premier League crown.
