Tottenham Reject Napoli's Audacious Bid for Striker Harry Kane as Replacement for Higuain

Tottenham have insisted that star striker Harry Kane is not for sale after Italian side Napoli lodged an audacious bid to lure the Englishman away from White Hart Lane.

"?Reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are keen to bring a big name to the club, with Kane one of a number of names targeted to replace £75m man Gonzalo Higuain up front.

Kane finished as the Premier League's top goalscorer last time out, netting on 25 occasions as Spurs ran champions Leicester close until falling away late on.

Having featured in every single league game last season, there is a dependency upon the youth product who scored more than a quarter of Spurs' league goals in the 2015/16 season.

It is likely that Kane will be under the same scrutiny over the coming season despite the arrival of Vincent Janssen, proving invaluable to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Napoli's search for a big name player will take them elsewhere, with the club struggling to keep hold of star players in the past.

Luka Modric and most notably Gareth Bale were key figures during their time in north London, but both chose to switch the Lane for the Bernabeu as they signed for Real Madrid.

Having assembled a squad spearheaded by Kane that has now played together for a couple of seasons, Pochettino and the club's board have insisted that they will not entertain the prospect of their main goal threat leaving the club.

The interest in Kane comes amid Napoli's ongoing efforts to take Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi from the San Siro, who is another player high on the club's list of targets.
