Tottenham Hotspur Plotting Move for Arsenal Target Henrikh Mkhitaryan

"?Tottenham Hotspur look set to steal a march on rivals Arsenal by plotting a move for Gunners' target Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to "?HITC.com.

Borussia Dortmund's Mkhitaryan has been on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's radar for quite some time.

However, Tottenham are now rumoured to have entered the race to sign the attacking midfielder - and could steal him from under the noses of their North London rivals.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bolster his forward line ahead of Spurs' first involvement in the UEFA Champions League since the 2011/12 campaign.

The eight-time FA Cup winners already boast attacking stars in striker Harry Kane, as well as attacking midfielders Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli, but Pochettino wants to increase the quality of players available to him ahead of next term.

Tottenham were beaten to the Barclays Premier League title last season by Leicester City, and the lure of another push for the title, as well as Champions League football, could prove too much for Mkhitaryan to resist.

Mkhitaryan was a £20.5m signing in July 2013 for Dortmund, with then-manager Jurgen Klopp bringing the playmaker to Germany from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk.

The winger, who is also comfortable playing in the number 10 role, has gone on to amass 41 goals and 49 assists for Dortmund in 140 appearances.

Mkhitaryan helped Thomas Tuchel's men finish second in Germany's top flight in 2015/16, 10 points behind eventual winners Bayern Munich, and registered an impressive 23 goals and 32 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions for Der BVB.

An Armenia international since January 2007, Mkhitaryan has gone to feature in 58 games for his national side, bagging 19 goals along the way.
