Toby Alderweireld: Tottenham Stars Can Benefit From Euro 2016 Experience

"?Toby Alderweireld says that the Euro 2016 Championships can help Tottenham Hotspur's stars to gain the right experience ahead of the 2016/17 season.

Centre-half Alderweireld told the "?London Evening Standard that the competition, due to kick off in France on June 10, could help Mauricio Pochettino's men push on and win the Barclays Premier League title next term.

Spurs are represented at the upcoming international tournament by no less than 11 players - a contingent from a single football club that only Liverpool and Juventus can surpass.

The Belgium international said, "Of course, it's good for the club that we have a lot of internationals going and the experience the players are getting from going to this kind of tournament is massive as well.

"You take it all back to your club afterwards and you get better, you become more mature and get extra experience from it."

Tottenham lost out to Leicester City for the league title last season, as results went against the Londoners in the final throes of their title push.

The White Hart Lane-based side eventually ended up finishing third in the standings behind the Foxes and North London rivals Arsenal.

Despite such a blow, 27-year-old Alderweireld says that he enjoyed his debut season at Spurs, and is of the opinion that the campaign should be viewed as a success.

"In all I was very happy with my first season for Spurs," he added.

"I can always play better but I think for the first season it was quite good.

"As a team we had a lot of good games during the year, we developed quite well and with the fantastic team and fantastic fans that we have I think we achieved something special."

Alderweireld joined Tottenham Hotspur for £12m in July 2015, and made 49 appearances in all competitions last season for the Lilywhites.
