Arsenal legend "?Thierry Henry believes that Tottenham's end-of-season implosion stems down to the fact that they are 'mentally weak.'
Spurs only needed a point from their final game to secure a higher-placed finish than their bitter-rivals Arsenal for the first time since 1995.
However, Mauricio Pochettino's men suffered a humiliating 5-1 mauling at the hands of Newcastle, which presented the Gunners with the opportunity to sneak into second-place.
The former Premier League star now believes that Tottenham's campaign unravelled at the end because of a lack of experience.
"We were all praising them at the beginning of the season, saying they were mentally strong and technically and physically great", the iconic French striker told "?Sky Sports.
"But they showed in the last few games something that you have when you have a team of a lot of youngsters; sometimes you can be mentally weak.
"Hopefully they can learn from that and come back better next season. You need to concentrate on yourself, and see what you can achieve.
"Obviously for a long time they were chasing Leicester to be champions, now they've finished third, yet again behind Arsenal. It does matter in London, but the bigger picture is to be champions."
21 - Arsenal have now finished above Tottenham in each of the last 21 Premier League seasons. Guarantee.
Despite their final-day disappointment, Tottenham will be buoyed by their incredible achievements this year, while Pochettino has also committed to the club, signing a new deal until 2021.
