"?Wayne Rooney can act as father figure to the Tottenham Hotspur players currently in the England squad, according to Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry.
The Spurs players' temperaments have been called into question ever since Dele Alli was banned for a punch on Claudio Yacob during Tottenham's draw against West Brom, and the 2-2 draw against Chelsea, where central midfielder Eric Dier made a number of rash and reckless tackles.
And according to the "?Mirror, Henry believes that lack of composure is something England will have to fight against at the Euros, with captain Rooney being a leading figure.
"The young Tottenham players showed me something I had not seen before in that game with Chelsea "? and that was nerves. Maybe, when they get into another situation where those nerves surface again, Rooney will be the guy who can calm them down.
"Maybe if they had kept their nerve, they would have scored that third goal against Chelsea to keep the title race alive, and that is why you still need Rooney around."?
Spurs had been in the title race until the draw with Chelsea, which secured Leicester's first ever Premier League title, and they ended up slipping down to third in the table thanks to a 5-1 hammering at already relegated Newcastle United on the final day of the season.
"He got himself sent off against Portugal in 2006, so he knows what they are feeling and that is why England still need Wayne Rooney "? because some of those Tottenham guys, and I won't name names, showed their nerves because they were about to lose something."
Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier are all expected to start in England's first game against Russia, whilst Danny Rose and Kyle Walker are fighting Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Clyne respectively for a spot in the starting XI.
It is expected Rooney will start, but it remains to be seen whether it will be in a striking position or in midfield.
