Swansea and Besiktas Set to Battle it Out for Man City's Wilfried Bony

"?Swansea City and Besiktas are set to battle it out for the signature of Wilfried Bony, according to "?Wales Online, with the Manchester City striker having enjoyed a fruitful 18-month spell in South Wales before departing for the Etihad Stadium.

But the Swans could be thwarted in their bid to re-sign the 27-year-old, with Turkish outfit Besiktas also looking to entice Bony away from the Citizens.

The Turkish Super Lig side are said to be able to match Bony's hefty wage packet at Eastlands, as well as pay the £25m price tag that Bony is rumoured to be worth.

Swansea, meanwhile, are thought to be unwilling to hand their former star the salary he currently commands.

City, however, do owe Francesco Guidolin's side a portion of the transfer fee that took Bony to the Etihad - a factor that could sway Swansea to make a move for Bony.

Guidolin is on the lookout for striking reinforcements, with the futures of Andre Ayew, Bafetimbi Gomis and Eder up in the air.

Bony scored 35 goals in just 70 appearances for Swansea after joining from Eredivisie side Vitesse for £10m in the summer of 2013.

The Ivory Coast international then switched South Wales for the North West of England when City came calling - joining the 2013/14 Premier League champions in January 2015 for a fee thought to be around £24m.

However, Bony has failed to find his best form in a Manchester City shirt, and has had to be content with making appearances from the bench, due to Sergio Aguero leading the line for City in recent seasons.

The emergence of young attacker Kelechi Iheanacho has only added to Bony's frustration over a lacking of playing time for last season's fourth-placed Premier League side.

In all, Bony has found the back of the net just 11 times in 46 appearances in all competitions for City.
