Super Eagles Observe One Minute Silence For Late Keshi In Training

Published on: 07 June 2017

The Super Eagles paid tribute to their late coach Stephen Keshi by observing one-minute silence prior to their morning training session on Wednesday.

The late Keshi died after a brief illness on 6 of June, 2016, exactly one year ago today.

A tweet on the official handle of the Super Eagles on Wednesday reads: "We observed a minute silence before training this morning to honour the memory of our ex-captain and coach Stephen Keshi who died a year ago."

The three-time African champions, who missed the last two editions of the competition, will begin their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against South Africa on Saturday in Uyo.

Keshi was in charge when South Africa drew 2-2 with the Super Eagles in Uyo in 2014 to eliminate Nigeria from the 2015 AFCON.
