"?Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min has acknowledged the fact that his debut at White Hart Lane last season was somewhat underwhelming, but insists he knows nothing of the recent rumours regarding a quick departure and isn't worried.
Despite flashes of occasional brilliance in a Spurs shirt in 2015/16, Son was largely in and out of the team by the end of the campaign, while transfer gossip at the weekend had suggested that a poor performance in the final game against Newcastle had sealed his fate.
"I haven't heard anything from the club regarding those transfer rumours," Son informed Yonhap News back home in South Korea.
"I'm sure my club will take care of this, and I think there is nothing special for me to be worried about," the £22m star added.
Son appeared more often as a substitute than as a starter over the course of the campaign, in particular struggling to get in the team during the title run-in from February onward. Even when he did start, the 23-year-old rarely played a full 90 minutes.
"My first season in the Premier League didn't meet my expectations, but I had a good experience. For my first season, I played with the thought that I should learn many things here," he said.
Assuming he stays for at least another year, Son's second season as a Spurs player might also not get off to the best of starts. The London Evening Standard has revealed that he has told the club of his desire to represent his country at the Olympic games in August.
Son explained that Spurs were "examining his request" to go to Brazil, an adventure that would see him miss vital pre-season work, with a "positive attitude". Despite being an international since 2010, Son was not part of the South Korean team that collected a bronze medal in 2012.
