Sol Campbell: I Want to Eventually Become a Manager

Published on: 05 June 2016

"?Sol Campbell has tried his hand at a number of different careers since he retired from playing football but he has now set his sights on becoming a coach.

Campbell spent the beginning of his career with Tottenham before he moved to the red half of North London where he lifted two Premier League titles.

The 41-year-old made 73 appearances for England over an 11-year-period and he was an established force at the back.

After a failed career as a politician, the former Gunner is ready to get back out on the pitch and pass his wisdom down to the next generation by becoming a coach.

"I've just completed my coaching badges after four and a half years - that was really good" he told the "?Guardian

"I want to do some coaching, maybe a couple of days a week, and start building up slowly - find out my philosophy, how I like to play and things like that.

"I want to be a coach now and eventually I want to be a manager."

Thierry Henry has been helping coach some of Arsenal's youngsters and Campbell could learn alongside his former team-mate.

However, worryingly for the Emirates Stadium faithful, he confessed he's been reading up on Chelsea's history.

When questioned about the most recent book he'd read, the burly defender replied "I think it was about Chelsea. Yeah, a book about their history."

Campbell would undoubtedly upset Arsenal fans if he ended up on Chelsea's payroll but, as he's demonstrated before, he's not afraid to jump between rival teams.
