With the Derby della Madonnina to look forward to and a high-flying Atalanta side facing a big test, round 13 of the 2016/17 Serie A season is set to be an entertaining watch.
As well as the headline fixtures, there are problems for Juventus in defence and the relegation zone could be about to get cut off from the rest of the table.
In what could be a hugely decisive weekend, here are five things to look out for in Serie A.
1. Derby della Madonnina
It goes without saying, this is most definitely the biggest thing to look out for this weekend in Serie A. One of the most, if not the most, competitive and meaningful matches on the peninsula, AC Milan and Inter go head to head in the 217th Milan derby, but a couple of factors make this one of the most interesting in recent years.
Yes, evidently the two teams are still not as prolific as they used to be, but both have somewhat improved upon recent seasons and the 90 minutes on Sunday night should provide a good watch.
Furthermore, it will be the first game Stefano Pioli takes charge of as Inter boss. Not the easiest debut for a new coach, but Frank De Boer’s departure has led to it.
Pioli has never played for, or indeed coached, either Milan or Inter in his career, so his first experience of this huge occasion will be this weekend, in an important fixture for the Nerazzurri. They can climb up to the European spots if results go their way, but should they lose they risk dropping into the bottom half of the table.
It won’t have the same glamour as similar matches in the 20th Century and the early 21st, but this will still no doubt be a fascinating game.
