Sébastien Frey: Roberto Mancini Is the Right Man to Bring Inter Forward

Published on: 30 May 2016

"?Former Inter Milan goalkeeper Sébastien Frey believes Roberto Mancini is the right man to bring the club back to former glories.

"Inter already have match winners in the squad and Mancini is a top coach. He'll be able to gel the team and get them challenging on all fronts," Frey told the "?Inter Channel.

Even though Roberto Mancini's side only managed a fourth placed finish in the league and won't be competing in the Champions League next season, the Frenchman believes it was a good season for Inter.

"Inter did really well in the first part of the campaign. I work as a pundit but off air I was rooting for them because they were in a good position. Afterwards they suffered a dip but overall it was a positive season.

"Some players performed superbly "? Handanovic, for example. I think he's the most consistent and decisive keeper in Serie A. It's great if you have a goalie like that," Frey said.

Sébastien Frey spent two years at the San Siro back between 1998 and 2001 making 35 appearances for the first team and claimed those two years were vital to his development as a top keeper.

"During my two years at Inter I had the honour of playing with some experienced, world-class players, top professionals who taught us younger players important values like respect and professionalism.

"I'm grateful to all my team-mates from back then because they helped put me on the right track," the Frenchman said.

After playing for Inter, Frey played for Parma, Fiorentina, Genoa and most recently Bursaspor before having his contract mutually terminated in 2015.
