Sami Khedira Blasts Man Utd Over Lack of Respect to German Teammate Bastien Schweinsteiger

"?Manchester United should show more respect to German legend Bastien Schweinsteiger, according to long-term international midfield partner Sami Khedira.

Juventus midfielder Khedira feels that his former German teammate should be treated a lot better by Mourinho and the Red Devils after the World Cup winner was exiled to the under-23 squad.

The 32-year-old found chances hard enough to come by last season under Louis van Gaal following a persistent knee injury that restricted the German to only thirteen Premier League starts.

Now game time will be even harder to come by under former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho who made it clear that Bastien holds no part of his plans with United.

As a result Mourinho had been keen to sell on the outcast to get the £190k-a-week wages off their books, but a move to Sporting Lisbon fell through after the midfielder rejected the proposal.

However, his former international teammate feels that he deserves a lot more credit and respect than the Manchester club are offering him.

Speaking with Welt am Sonntag the midfielder said: "I would never be in a situation that a club asks me to leave. A player with a great career does not deserve to eventually be told: 'Hey, you're off.'

"I think the situation in Manchester is a shame, because Bastian is a player I've really looked up to.

"At the World Cup in 2010 he was very important for me. He was the boss, I was young and learned a lot playing next to him. And then he went on to be a great captain."

Sami Kedira has also played under Mourinho, becoming one of his first signings when the Portuguese boss took over at Real Madrid, with no criticism for his former boss.

He added: "Football is a business. I'm not a daydreamer. If Jose Mourinho has other plans, you have to accept that. And I know from Bastian that that those two had a good talk."
