"?Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason has backed England's Spurs-heavy squad to give a good account of themselves at Euro 2016, with the Three Lions beginning their campaign against Russia on Saturday.
Mason said that he was looking forward to the spectacle of the summer tournament, and backed Roy Hodgson's men to play without fear in France - much as Spurs did in their Premier League title challenge over the last season.
Asked how he thought they would fare, he replied: "Hopefully very well. They're a young team and they've got some experienced players in there as well, and I'm sure they'll go out there with no fear and hopefully they think they're the big team, worry about themselves and perform to the best of their abilities. If they can do that, you never know what can happen."
Ryan Mason was speaking as part of the Farah menswear #MatchReady campaign, and also discussed his plans to work his way into a key role for his club next season. When asked if he was confident of a place in a packed Spurs midfield, he said: "I have faith in my ability. I've got an advantage because I've got six weeks off over the summer to rest up and work hard, and make sure I go back into pre-season a better player.
"I'm sure with our manager it'll be a clean slate, and whoever performs well in the pre-season games will be starting the season. For me, I need to make sure that I'm one of the best players in pre-season so he can't leave me out of the team for the opening day."
He also said that a pair of chastening defeats at the hands of Borussia Dortmund last season could stand them in good stead for a Champions League campaign, saying: "I think this season we probably played over 50 games and physically we're a very fit squad - we're young, and we're energetic as well.
"All the experience of last season, playing against Dortmund who for me are a Champions League team, and we've learned a lot from that. Hopefully next season when we're up against those big boys, we can get a different result."
"Players will be a year older and more experienced," he added. "I'm sure everyone at the club's looking forward to it, and we all want to play in those big games on a Champions League night and obviously in the Premier League as well. There's going to be a lot of competition for places!"
The 24-year-old took some time out to shower praise on manager Mauricio Pochettino, saying: "He's brilliant. He's fantastic. He's a great human being, he's a great person and he's got a coaching staff around him that are very tight, and they lead the way in what they want the players to be like.
"They're very together, they're passionate about working hard and that translates to the players on the training pitch. He's brought a sort of camaraderie and a togetherness to the squad. He's brilliant on a personal level, obviously he gave me my chance, and his door's always open, he's easy to talk to and he's honest. That's all you can ask for from a manager."
