"?Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has revealed former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Thierry Henry is his footballing inspiration, reported the "?Metro.

Lewandowski is one of Europe's most feared strikers at the moment, having enjoyed a prolific season with the German champions in the last campaign, scoring 30 goals in 32 Bundesliga matches. Henry, who is now 38, was the player the Polish star has now admitted he looked up to as a teenager, but he even hinted that he still idolises him now.

The Frenchman is Arsenal's all-time leading goalscorer, and Lewandowski went on to divulge that Henry even identified him as a player to swap shirts with when they shared a pitch for the first time.

He said: "Thierry Henry was a player I liked to watch and take inspiration from.

"It was a real honour more recently when he asked if he could have my shirt after a game. I asked if it was for someone else and he said: 'No, it's for me.' That was really cool.

"I was watching him on TV a few years ago, now he is asking for my shirt."

Lewandowski is set to embark on Euro 2016 with his native Poland in the next couple of weeks, with the Bayern man tipped to be among the leading goalscorers at the competition. At club level however, Lewandowski is reportedly a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid, even while Bayern are trying their hardest to keep the player at Allianz Arena.

The 27-year-old has however admitted he is under 'no pressure' to sign a new deal with Bayern.
