Robert Lewandowski Says Poland Must Have No Fear Against Germany

"?Poland's Robert Lewandowski says his country must play without fear when they face world champions Germany on Thursday.

The neighbouring countries meet in a Group C match, and the Bayern Munich striker told "?Die Welt that his country can build on their 1-0 over Northern Ireland.

"It will be a special game against Germany. We know each other very well. We met twice in the qualifiers and Germany are the favourites for me, not just on Thursday but also to win the tournament. They can go all the way.

"We know how strong Germany are. But we will fight. Everything is possible in a tournament like this.

"We have to stay calm and act confident. We must play without fear and don't have any stress. We know it will be hard, but it's only football and we must enjoy ourselves. We can do it if we approach the game like that."

The victory over Northern Ireland was Poland's first ever in a European Championship, and the two countries will know each other well having met during the qualification progress - winning one game each.

The opening round of fixtures saw wins for both sides, meaning that Thursday's match is likely to decide who wins the Group.

Poland's victory was sealed by Arkadiusz Milik of Ajax in Nice, while Bastian Schweinsteiger's late goal confirmed a 2-0 win over Ukraine despite some nervy moments for Germany.

The winners of Group C will face the best third-placed side from Group A, B or F.
