"?Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been denied a 'dream move to Real Madrid', with the Spanish giants pulling the plug in order not to 'upset' Frenchman Karim Benzema, according to Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague.
Balague went on to claim that in light of the break down in talks, the Poland striker will now sign a new contract at Bayern, keeping him at the Bavarian outfit until 2021.
Earlier in the summer it was reported that Lewandowski's "?agent had held talks with Real Madrid representatives over a potential switch, but to no avail, as the 27-year-old looks set to stay at the Bundesliga champions, according to Guillem Balague's comments.
Last season, Lewandowski enjoyed his most prolific season to date, scoring 42 goals in 51 appearances as Bayern won the league and cup double.
It was also reported that Lewandowski, who signed for Bayern on a free-transfer from rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014, was "?open to a switch to the Premier League having grown unsettled in Germany.
On Lewandowski. Tried hard to go to R Madrid (a dream of his) but club didn't, not to upset Benzema. New contract soon for RL till 2021
But Bayern Chairman "?Karl-Heinz Rummenigge soon dismissed speculation, by saying: "One thing I know for sure. Lewandowski will play at Bayern Munich in the next season. No one must make thoughts about that.
"The decision is like this: We will not give Robert Lewandowski to another club, no matter what they will offer us. We have no breaking point for Robert."
Benzema on the other hand has had the year from hell, after being caught in a "?drug trafficking scandal in November 2015, before missing Euro 2016 after a "?public sex-tape scandal.
Being mindful of the tough year the Frenchman has had, Real Madrid have turned down the opportunity to sign Lewandowski, in order to show faith in Benzema.
