"?Former England and Manchester United centre back Rio Ferdinand has praised Tottenham's Kyle Walker as one of the best full-backs in world football after his Man of the Match display against Wales on Thursday.
England went a goal down in the game after a 35-yard Gareth Bale free-kick beat Joe Hart just before half time. Roy Hodgson brought on Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy at the break, which changed the game. Vardy scored within ten minutes of the restart while Sturridge stole the headlines scoring a 91st-minute winner.
Walker played a key role in his side's comeback, marauding up and down the right flank and Ferdinand was full of praise for the 26 year-old. "If you look at Kyle Walker's pace and intensity, he is like a machine,"? Ferdinand told the "?BBC (via Goal).
"He puts the opposition full-back under pressure. He asks whether you are ready to run with me and if not, he will motor past you. There might be questions on how he plays in his own third, but as for when you are on the front foot, I don't think there are many better in the world. He is like a winger."?
After the game, England boss Roy Hodgson described his joy at the win. "It's a long time since myself and the coaching staff have showed such joy," Hodgson told the "?BBC.
"When the chances don't go in and you've compounded your task by conceding that Gareth Bale goal, it really is a happy moment when both the substitutes score. I thought it was on the cards all the way through the second half."
Hodgson added: "I have great empathy with Chris [Coleman] and the Welsh team because he must have been looking at a good draw. He will be today as I was on Saturday night."
The England manager now has some selection dilemma's ahead of him as the Three Lions prepare to take on Slovakia next Monday, knowing that a win there will see them top Group B.
