Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be 'the perfect fit' for Manchester United as he would bring a wealth of winning experience, according to former Red Devils coach Rene Meulensteen.
Following Louis van Gaal's departure, Jose Mourinho has been tipped to be announced as the Dutchman's successor and Ibrahimovic is believed to be one of his primary targets.
The 34-year-old is out of contract following a trophy laden four seasons at Paris Saint-Germain in which he became the club's all time leading goalscorer with 156 in 180 appearances and he is currently assessing his options.
Ibrahimovic enjoyed a fruitful understanding with Mourinho during their time at Inter Milan during which they won Serie A together and the Sweden international finished as the league's top scorer.
Meulensteen believes that that partnership could be revived at Old Trafford and Ibrahimovic could be exactly what Manchester United need.
"?"In some ways it would be the perfect fit for United at this moment in the time," Meulensteen told "?BBC Radio 5 Live.
"For young players, he's got a great personality, a charismatic person, he's a leader in the dressing room, a winner.
"He's won I don't know how many titles so he brings a lot to the club and something that could really put United into winning ways."
