"?Real Madrid appear to have finally ruled out the signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, with Bernabeu coach Zinedine Zidane a firm fan of Keylor Navas, while De Gea himself has also publicly a desire to remain at Old Trafford.
Having only been denied a deal last summer by a late fax, Real still have five more days in which to exercise an apparent €50m release clause.
However, following on from "?reports at the weekend that any such approach looked increasingly unlikely, interest seems to have been dropped altogether.
According to Marca, a meeting between De Gea's agent, Jorge Mendes, the man who also represents new United boss Jose Mourinho, and Real officials 'confirmed' that there will be no pursuit for the world class stopper this summer.
It is suggested that while Los Blancos president Florentino Perez was still keen, his eagerness to sign de Gea at the expense of Navas had threatened to cause friction with Zidane. As such, the Bernabeu chief is believed to have backed down.
It comes as De Gea himself pledged his immediate allegiance to his current club.
"I know nothing about Madrid wanting to sign me. I'm calm. I have three more years in Manchester. United have given me everything. Now I'm just concentrating on the Euros and to be with the national team," the 25-year-old told Cadena Ser on the eve of Euro 2016.
"I'm at a big club, which gives me love every day. I'm very grateful for Manchester United and I'm very happy there," he added.
After the move to Real fell apart last summer, De Gea signed a new four-year contract at United and continued the fine form which had propelled him to the position of arguably the best goalkeeper anywhere in the world.
He has been a fan favourite at Old Trafford, even since his very early days at the club, while the rumours of an apparent desire to return home to Madrid where his family and girlfriend are based appear not to be a problem.
