Rashid Sumaila played the entire duration as his Kuwaiti side Al Qadsia beat Johor FC of Malaysia 3-1 in the first leg of the Asian Cup.
DR Congo striker Doris Salomo Fuakuputu and Bader Al Mutawa gave Qadsia a 2-0 first half lead before Seydouba Soumah added the third.
Amri Yahyah pulled one back for the visitors on 81 minutes.
The return leg will be played on 20 October.
