"?If you were worried about the future of English football following a dismal Euro 2016 and 20 years without a semi-final appearance at a major tournament, there is hope after all following the exploits of the Under-17 team.
The junior Three Lions headed to Croatia last week to compete in the Croatia Cup.
They began the mini-tournament by beating the hosts 5-0 and then scoring three more without reply against Greece. But the most impressive victory has now come over Germany, an 8-1 demolition on Monday afternoon.
Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes, who only recently celebrated his 16th birthday, opened the scoring in the fourth minute and would later go on to claim two assists.
buzzing to have beat Germany 8-1 and win Croatia Cup & to also get a goal and 2 assists !! ???? @England #winners !!!
Jadon Sancho of Manchester City scored England's second only minutes later.
Nice way to end the tournament as winners in a 8-1 win over Germany?? in the Croatia Cup this evening! @England another goal ?? & assist!
And although Germany pulled one back in the 12th minute, a rampant England side scored four more before half-time, courtesy of Phil Foden (Manchester City), George McEachran (Chelsea) and two from Rhian Brewster (Liverpool).
Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi and Danny Loader from Reading scored the seventh and eight England goals in the kind of big win the senior side could only dream of.
