West Ham United are exploring the possibility of signing former Nigeria U23 striker Promise David who is currently on the books at Belgian side Union SG, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

According to Sky Sports News, the 24-year-old is among several attacking options under consideration with a move in the January transfer window viewed as a realistic prospect.

Born in Ontario, David represented Nigeria at U23 level on two occasions before switching his international allegiance to Canada.

Since making his senior debut against Ukraine in June 2025, he has scored three goals in eight appearances for the Canadian national team.

The forward has been in impressive form this season, registering nine goals across club and international competitions, drawing attention from multiple European clubs.

West Ham, meanwhile have made the acquisition of a new striker a top priority for next month as German forward Niclas Füllkrug is expected to depart the London Stadium.

Füllkrug’s time at the club has been hampered by recurring injuries since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund 18 months ago, and he is yet to find the net for the Hammers this season.
