Ghana Premier League board boss Welbeck Abra-Appiah says head coach of the Black Stars Avram Grant is destroying the local league with the consistent overlooking of local players for international assignments.

Grant officially named a 22 man squad for Ghana’s international friendlies against Senegal and Mali with only Fatau Dauda who plays for AshGold the local based player in the team.

This trend is a continuation of former coach Kwesi Appiah’s call up where foreign based players dominated the national team.

But Abra-Appiah says Grant could have done the local game a lot of good with the inclusion of some home grown talents.

“It is very unfortunate to hear that the list has been released with only one local based player,” Abra-Appiah told Accra based Citi FM.

“This is a friendly game and it’s very important that we open the doors to those playing in the domestic scene, that will also encourage them.

“I am really down with the selection but I guess Grant just saw one game and that is not enough.”

“In reality most of these foreign based players are bench warmers and I do not see why a few of our guys here can not fit in.”

Despite the claim by Abrah Appiah, Avram Grant is widely seen as the foreign coach who has paid much attention to the local league as compared to his predecessors.

If the local players has what it required, I think Avram would have invited them.

Sometimes is difficult to understand some of these football administrator. Why on earth will you attribute this to Avram Grant when he just took over few months as black stars coach. The league was died already. Besides before he took over the story was the same.

Since when and for how long has Avram Grant been killing our domestic league? Where was Abra-Appiah when the GFA allowed Alhaji Grunsah to virtually kill the domestic league by going to court over what he termed was an unfair treatment? For how long has Avram Grant known the local players? What is the quality of our premier league as compared to the premier leagues of Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Cote D' Ivoire, and North Africa? Why should a problem which has been there for years be attributed to somebody who took over just 3 months ago? Why should Kotoko win the domestic premier league back-to-back yet fail in Africa at the preliminary stage for two consecutive years? it means our league is very low and poor in quality. If the local players has what it takes to be called into the Black Stars proper, they should prove it, starting with Mozambique and consequently winning gold in the All Africa games and the CHAN. It is took early for Abra-Appiah to look for such a scape goat. This is hypocrisy!

Let us be honest here. The top executive in a private company in Ghana will still have to pay his dues abroad before being able to handle the world stage. You cannot move from a Ghanaian bank and come to the USA and head Citibank. It is not going to happen. You have to pay your dues abroad first and prove yourself. The local players may be good but they are not ready. They need to pay some dues abroad.

This is the beginning of the pull him down syndrome. They want Grant to fail so they have started their moves. Can Mr Abra Appiah name just 6 local players who can match up with the foreign based ones?

Abrah Appiah killed the leg long time ago before the Israeli trainer came in...the PLB boss have no moral right to criticize the ex chelsea boss on igoring the local base players becoz he Abra Appiah has failed his responsibities and even destroyed the leg...his own slogan we shd always learn and i asked myself does he Abra appiah learn? NO... Abra Appiah shd humbly resign n pave way for innovative n intellect who are ready to bring back the ghana leg on board...The PLB shd let sleeping dogs lie...freelencer Game boy
