Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Move to Manchester City Reportedly Hangs in the Balance

Published on: 18 June 2016

"?Manchester City's pursuit of prolific Borussia Dortmund frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in doubt as the clubs fail to agree on a price, writes the "?Manchester Evening News.

The Premier League club are unwilling to meet the £65m fee that the German side have valued their prized asset at.

Having lost big names such as Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and most recently Mats Hummels, Dortmund are standing firm in negotiations, having also blocked Manchester United's attempts to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Although Aubameyang would not be the first Dortmund player to move to the Etihad this summer, following Ilkay Gundogan's £21m transfer.

Dortmund remain insistent that the Manchester side must meet their £65m valuation, a price that would see the Gabon striker become the most expensive player bought to the Etihad.

The news outlet reports that the Citizens have not ruled out their interest in Aubameyang following the stern negotiations, although there are signs that incoming boss Pep Guardiola has begun to look elsewhere.

Leroy Sane, who can play both wide and centrally along with diminutive Spanish international Nolito, have both been sounded out as alternative transfer targets.

Aubameyang remains Guardiola's key target however, having had scouts watch the pacy forward for months. The incoming City boss will have been encouraged that Dortmund have named a price for their star striker. Whilst the Manchester club are not scared of spending big, outlaying over £100m on Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling last summer.

Having come up against Aubameyang during his time as manager of Bayern Munich, Guardiola will be well aware of whether the striker is worth the big money gamble.
