Petr Cech Receives Golden Glove Award After Recording 16 Clean Sheets

"?Despite tamely rolling over in the title race, Arsenal somehow enjoyed a solid end to the season as they pipped bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur to second place.

The Gunners needed Spurs to slip up against Newcastle and they were duly thrashed 5-1 as Andros Townsend came back to haunt them.

However, although the club collectively failed to win any silverware, Petr Cech emerged as the division's best goalkeeper after he kept his 16th clean sheet of the Premier League campaign.

Arsene Wenger's men thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 but Cech did well to repel strikes from Jordan Ayew and Scott Sinclair which means he trumped Kasper Schmeichel and Joe Hart to collect the coveted Golden Glove award.

The Czech Republic international could end up sharing the award with David De Gea if he manages to silence Bournemouth's attackers in Manchester United's rescheduled match on Tuesday evening.

In comparison, both of the incredible shot-stoppers have kept 16 clean sheets in just 34 appearances and Cech has proven his worth multiple times since joining Arsenal from Chelsea in a £10m deal last summer.

The 33-year-old endured a rocky start to his Arsenal career after a series of blunders in their opening game of the season against West Ham but he has bounced back and cemented his position at the top echelon of goalkeepers.
